Montejaque
Montejaque - Geography:
The enchanting white mountain village of Montejaque nestles within the heart of Andalucia, in the Parque Natural de Grazalema. Montejaque is 20 minutes from historic Ronda and is one of the pretty white towns which nestle in the Grazalema Park, set amongst spectacular mountains. Dating back to the time of the conquest by the Moors, Montejaque is built on a rocky hillside above a fertile green valley of olive groves, vineyards and sunflower fields.
Montejaque - Our properties:
In this authentic Spanish village you have a wonderful choice of accommodation. We have newly built villas (designed in the traditional style) located in the gardens around the swimming pool and, further up the village, charming renovated village cottages.
As some of our village cottages in Montejaque have no access by car, your holiday will start with a walk back in time, ambling through the narrow winding streets of pretty whitewashed houses. One tip - many of Montejaque's old streets are steep in places, so keep a pair of non-slip rubber-soled shoes handy.
Montejaque - What is it like?
In Montejaque it is easy to become absorbed into the village way of life of rural Andalucia. Steep, winding streets cut between whitewashed cottages, whilst on the edge of Montejaque, sheep and goat bells can be heard ringing as the animals clamber freely about the surrounding hillside. Although faithful to the traditions of the past, Montejaque is a thriving rural mountain community with most modern facilities.
You will be able to buy almost everything you need for self catering in Montejaque's shops. A handy information book inside your holiday accommodation contains useful phrases to help you ask for most items and it also contains details of banks, post offices and other services.
Montejaque has several local bars, each with their own unique atmosphere, most of which serve tapas, ideal for a snack.
All travellers to Montejaque will be met with a warm welcome and enjoy typical Andalucian hospitality during their stay. Our local agents' office is open most days and the friendly staff are pleased to help with information about shops, local attractions and sightseeing.
Montejaque - Activities:
Most visitors to Montejaque come to relax and enjoy a peaceful time away from the pressures of modern life, however, for those who like to be active during their holiday, there is no shortage of sports and leisure activities.
Walking is one of the most popular pastimes.
