Soria is the least populated of all of Spain's provinces- in fact it is one of the lowest populated provinces in the European Union. There are 183 municipalities in Soria, of which nearly half are hamlets of fewer than 100 people and of which only 12 have more than 1000 people. The city is home to many magnificent Romanesque churches and amazingly the province of Soria includes perhaps the largest concentration of medieval castles in Europe, from the biggest castle of the continent to the small Arabic watch towers.
