Mount Enos

Mount Enos is the highest mountain range on the Greek island of Kefalonia. It runs through the south of the island for 10km and its highest peak is Mount Soros at 1,628m.

Melissani Lake

Melissani Lake is located on the south east coast of Kefalonia, in Karavomylos, just 2km from Sami. It is well worth a visit to see this unique cave structure. It features a lake that reaches a depth of 39 metres. The cave is open to visitors every day from 9am and you can tour the lake by boat - a fabulous opportunity to admire the wonderful scenery.

Drogarati Cave

Drogarati Cave is just 3km from Sami. The cave is renowned as one of the finest in Greece. It is a rare geological phenomenon and is open to tourists every day. Drogarati Cave is situated 120m above sea level and descends to a depth of 95 metres.

Kefalonia Villages

Skala

The fabulous beach of Skala is a seemingly endless stretch of sand fringed by a forest. There are water sports facilities and many relaxing bars along the sea front. If you're here during the evening then you can enjoy traditional Greek cuisine in one of Skala's excellent tavernas or restaurants.

Argostoli

Argostoli is the capital of Kefalonia. It is lively modern town full of boutiques, shops, markets and galleries.

Fiskardo

Fiskardo is a beautiful Greek harbour village in the north of Kefalonia. Its architecture is unique as it managed to escape undamaged after the great earthquake of 1953. Fishing boats moor in Fiskardo's picturesque harbour alongside the yachts of the rich and famous.

Sami

Sami is a charming town with a long waterfront, lined with shaded restaurants and tavernas - many of which serve locally caught fish of the day. Sami is the second busiest port on Kefalonia and has ferry services to Corfu, Ithaka, Patras and Italy.

Poros

Poros is a picturesque village with a vast (2km long) indented coastline with an abundance of sandy beaches and ports. The area is very popular with fishermen, while its caves offer shelter for wildlife including the Monachus-Monachus Seal and Caretta-Caretta Turtle.

Myrtos Beach

Myrtos is the most famous beach on Kefalonia. It been voted one of Europe's most beautiful beaches. The beach is a huge sweep of white limestone frames by steep cliffs - absolutely breathtaking.

Kefalonia Villages

Assos

Unforgettable scenery and the towering remains of a Venetian fortress. Assos is described as the most atmospheric village on the island of Kefalonia. It clings to small isthmus with picturesque houses overlooking the harbour. The centre of Assos village is Paris Square wth a nice array of Grek tavernas - a lovely place to relax in shaded comfort. A track leads from the village up to the fortress that guards Assos. The Venetians built the fortress in the 1590s to protect the inhabitants from pirates. If you're seeking a little romance while on holiday in Kefalonia, then watching the sunset in Assos is a fabulous way to spend the early evening; as the sun goes down behind the castle it sends light streaming across the ruins - very romantic.

Moni Kipoureon

Moni Kipoureon is the monastery dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It was built in 1759 and is located on the Paliki Peninsula. It offers visitors an unforgettable experience: remarkable relics and a breathaking, unrivalled view towards the endless blue sea.

Kefalonia Villages

Lixouri

Lixouri is Kefalonia's second city. It is a quiet and friendly city situated in the south of Kefalonia, on the Paliki Peninsula. Lixouri is surrounded by mountains. It was built around a port and the bustling harbour area is alive with boats departing to Argostoli. The majority of ancient Lixouri was destroyed by the earthquake of 1953. It has therefore been mostly rebuilt with wide streets. While visiting Lixouri is it worth seeing the library and the icon museum - old mansion which survived the earthquake.
