The replica of old Argostoli that was built in Sami's main square was so realistic that many Greek dignitaries from the mainland visted Sami to see it for themselves. However, Sami has now returned to life as normal; no evidence of the film sets are left and the Hollywood stars have long since gone.

Nightlife in Sami is lively but fairly traditional and usually centred around restaurants, tavernas and bars.
