Tazacorte - Overview:

Tazacorte is a small town near to the coast and at the heart of one of La Palma's agricultural areas, just 6km south west of Los Llanos. On the coast is a little village, Puerto de Tazacorte, which has a beach and several fish restaurants where you can sample the local catch. There is little tourist accommodation in this area so we are pleased to have discovered the comfortable Finca Tagomate apartments on the edge of town.

Tazacorte - Geography:

Tazacorte is situated on the west side of La Palma and claims to be the warmest place on the island. It is divided into two areas: The port and the village. Puerto de Tazacorte is on the coast and has a long promenade, a fishing harbour a black sand beach, narrow streets lined with colourful old La Palma houses and a boulevard with bars and seafood restaurants.

There are daily sightseeing trips to the Cueva Bonita where you can watch the dolphins in their natural Atlantic habitat leave from the quayside from Tazacorte's fishing harbour. Tazacorte village is about 1km above the coast, and is the main centre with a town hall, post office, shops and supermarket.

Tazacorte - Climate:

Sun and warm temperatures are usually guaranteed in Tazacorte throughout the year. On the La Palma coast the temperatures are usually between 20C and 25C in the winter and 20C to 32C in the summer months. The night temperatures seldom fall below 18C. In the summer the temperatures seldom rise above 35C.
