Felanixt - History:
Felanitx is said to derive its name from the Latin Fenalicius and was first documented in 1232. Pere Sturc and Ramon Desbrull were commissioned by King Jaume I in 1300 to draw the first plan of the town. Queen, Maria Cristina, granted Felanitx the title of City in 1886.
The parish church of Sant Miquel contains a memorial to 414 people who died when a wall collapsed in 1844; also beneath the rose window is a depiction of the arch angel Michael standing on the Devil's head.
