Inca

Inca - Overview:
Located on the north of Mallorca, just 29km from the capital Palma, Inca is a small town with one main square and a pedestrianised main street running through the heart of the town. Inca's main source of income is agriculturally based and the surrounding area is filled with vineyards, olive trees and almond groves. Inca is especially famous for its traditional cellers (restaurants).
Inca - Geography:
Originally Mallorca's third largest town, Inca is now the island's fourth municipality population-wise, following Palma, Manacor and Calvia. Dating back to Roman times, the town lies in the island's central plains, on the old road midway from Palma to the northern port of Alcudia. The Palma-Inca railway connects the town with Palma and goes through the towns of Marratxi, Santa Maria del Cam, Consell, Binissalem and Lloseta. Inca has a thriving leather industry and factories producing good quality shoes and clothes. Inca also has a bull-ring, a university and an impressive football stadium.
Inca - Shopping and Eating Out:
Despite a rather industrial facade, Inca has a surprising array of different and interesting shops, restaurants and bars and is slowly becoming quite a youthful and 'trendy' town. Close to Majorca's best wine-producing area, Inca's wine-cellars have also achieved some fame, and the bodegas in the centre of town prepare typical Majorcan food at reasonable prices. The Thursday market is lively and second in size only to Palma's.
