Casa Rural El Traspatio (GDA-1075)

Opened for guests in January 2001, El Traspatio is a lovingly restored, traditional Canarian town house, originally constructed in the early 19th Century. It has been beautifully renovated and sympathetically converted into three comfortable apartments to offer you the opportunity to experience life in an authentic Canarian town, all within walking distance of the pretty plaza, shops, bars and restaurants.
Each apartment has independent access. One of them has a separate kitchen and lounge, whereas the other two apartments have a combined kitchen/living area, which is separated by a breakfast bar. The kitchens are well-equipped and have 4-ring electric hob, fridge-freezer, washing machine, kettle, toaster, coffee-maker and juice-maker. A complimentary welcome pack awaits your arrival.
The living areas have a pull-out sofa bed suitable for two children or one adult. TV with Spanish channels only. The bathroom has a wash basin, bidet and WC. One of the apartments has a bath with shower fitment whereas the other two apartments only have a shower. The bedrooms have two twin beds, which may be pushed together to create a double. Cots are available on request. All apartments have fire extinguishers, small fans, heaters, irons and ironing-boards and there are washing lines on the terraces.
There are three shared courtyards that link between the apartments. The largest courtyard, at the back of the house, is an ideal location for dining al fresco or simply to relax in a hammock beneath the shade of a palm tree. It is attractively designed with cacti and palms, with sun-loungers, a couple of tables with chairs, a barbecue and a gravelled area. From the roof-top terrace, guests can sunbathe whilst enjoying wonderful views of the mountains and across the town.
El Traspatio is located in the town of Granadilla, in the pedestrianised precinct 'Arquitecto Marrero', just 50 metres from the square of the 17th Century Franciscan. Granadilla is a typical Canarian town with local shops, restaurants and bars. It is located approximately 600 metres above sea level and just 10 kilometres from the airport and the beach at El Medano. Granadilla de Abona has 6,000 inhabitants in its city centre and 23,000 in the township and is the administrative centre for the south east of the island.
Car hire, although not essential, is highly recommended, as Casa Rural el Traspatio is an excellent base from which to explore this fascinating island and discover your very own secret Canaries. A short drive of around 25 kilometres will take you to the Las Canadas National Park, which surrounds Mount Teide, the highest point in Spain. A further 25 kilometres will allow you to explore the lush Oratava Valley or a trip to the north of the island will allow you to visit the chic resort of Puerto de La Cruz. Alternatively travel approximately 22 kilometres south, past the airport and visit the more popular tourist resort of Los Cristianos, once a quiet fishing village which now offers a good, varied selection of shops, seafront cafes and restaurants, whilst still retaining its original charm.

Location

Although rural tourism is mostly concentrated in the north of Tenerife, we have discovered the very Canarian village of Granadilla in the south east of the island. Granadilla de Abona lies in a rich area of the island of Tenerife, where the best oranges are grown. It attracts many people and is a very important agricultural centre with rural housing developments, typical Canarian bars and traditional architecture. 600 metres above sea level, and conveniently situated just 10km from Tenerife's international airport (Reina Sofia) and the beaches of El Medano (11km), there is also a 2km stretch of golden sandy beach along with la Tejita beach.
