Finca La Mareta, House 1 (AGA-1042)

A nature lover's paradise. Nestling in the lush and verdant valley of Agaete, these delightful houses are located on a charming white-washed working Finca, set within large well-tended gardens where the tropical vegetation and fruit trees contrast with the spectacular mountain scenery. The surrounding countryside is a mixture of palm trees, orchards and indigenous plants and a joy for ramblers and nature lovers.
Agaete town, with its ample facilities, is only 2km away and on the sea-front is Puerto de las Nieves, Agaete's port and fishing village. Here you can enjoy locally caught seafood in numerous harbour-side restaurants or perhaps take the fast ferry service to the neighbouring island of Tenerife.
The owner spent nearly three years lovingly refurbishing and carefully restoring these enchanting properties. Each features rustic furniture and retains a traditional Canarian decor. Guests have the benefit of a communal barbecue area and shared swimming pool - ideal for a refreshing dip or simply relaxing after a day's exploring.
The accommodation area is entered through large wooden doors into a large cobblestone patio in which there is a barbecue for guests' use. The gardens are beautifully maintained and covered in geraniums and indigenous plants. The swimming pool is located within the terrace area and surrounded by palm trees and cacti. The Finca itself is planted out with fruit trees and there is a large reservoir.

Layout

A complimentary welcome pack awaits your arrival and the accommodation comprises a bed-sitting room with double bed, bedside tables and a wardrobe in the bedroom area and 2 comfortable sofas, an armchair, a coffee table, a writing desk and TV (no satellite channels) in the sitting area. The ceiling is beamed and there are original watercolours on the walls. The decor is tasteful and the furniture is rustic yet elegant. There is a fully equipped kitchen/breakfast room with 2-ring electric cooker, microwave, large fridge and freezer. The bathroom has a rustic hand basin, bath and shower, WC and bidet. Outside is a seating area beneath a pleasant vine-covered alcove.

Location

The small town of Agaete is located on the north coast of Gran Canaria, at the end of a steep ravine - the Barranco de Agaete. The town, with its labyrinth of narrow streets and whitewashed houses, is surrounded by lush vegetation. Here bananas, mangos, papayas, oranges, lemons and other sub-tropical plants and trees grow in abundance on steep slopes. In the wilder parts, the terrain is cut into artificial terraces, to aid cultivation. This small fishing town has beaches nestled between cliffs. The nearby town of Puerto de las Nieves boasts a good range of seafood restaurants and Cafes. Along the coastline of Agaete, you will find Dedo de Dios (God's Finger), a basalt monolith jutting up the sea.
