Self Catering Accommodation

Self-Catering Accommodation - Availability:

Clients will normally have access to their holiday property between 15.00hrs and 18.00hrs on the day of arrival (depending on the property). Clients must usually vacate their self-catering accommodation by 10.00hrs on the morning of departure. We have to stipulate this in order to give cleaners enough time to prepare the accommodation for new guests.

Self-Catering Accommodation - Prices and preferred arrival days:

Prices shown on this website are the rental prices per property per week. Normally our self-catering accommodation is available for rent for periods of 1 or more weeks, commencing on the preferred arrival day of the week. We are sometimes able to be flexible on this and can offer rentals for odd durations (e.g. 5 or 10 days) and we will also consider renting property commencing on days of the week other than the preferred arrival day. In all these cases, granting of these requests is at our discretion and prices may vary from those shown in the price panel. When a 2 week booking, commencing on a preferred day, includes the second week starting in the next price band, the first week will be charged at the rate shown for the commencement date and the second week will be charged at the rate shown in the next band.

Due to the location of many of our properties, flights booked independently should arrive at your resort airport no later than 19.30hrs. Our latest acceptable arrival time for self-catering accommodation is 21.00, unless pre-arranged or contact made en-route.

Self-Catering Accommodation - Satellite TV:

Satellite TV in self-catering properties does not always include English channels. If English channels are available a decoder card is not always provided locally.

Self-Catering Accommodation - Distances quoted:

Where mentioned the distances from each property to the beach, airport, shops and restaurants are only very approximate. Please note that "restaurants" can refer to Spanish bars serving tapas and raciones.

Self-Catering Accommodation - Wildlife:

In certain rural locations, animals, birds and insects are likely to be in the vicinity of your holiday accommodation. This is normal in such surroundings. When, in the opinion of our owners/agents, pests in or around are proving a nuisance, they will attempt to eradicate them if requested.

Self-Catering Accommodation - Teapots & lampshades:

Holiday accommodation owned by local people is clean and equipped for Spanish/Portuguese catering. British items such as teapots and cups and saucers are often missing and niceties like lampshades are sometimes ignored. The Spanish do not normally drink tea. The tea in supermarkets is always sold in teabags and teapots are not used or widely available. Often the Spanish drink everything out of glass tumblers and in a typical Spanish bar it is normal for the same type of glasses to be used for coffee, wine and beer.

Northern European owned holiday accommodation is usually tastefully and fully furnished after construction, whereas the Spanish sometimes equip their holiday homes with odd pieces of unco-ordinated furniture which they add to and improve on each year. Furnishings and standards of accommodation vary from region to region, and this should be borne in mind when booking a multi-centre holiday and, as our houses are privately owned, they all differ considerably.

Self-Catering Accommodation - The building's condition:

These terms, which appear in property descriptions, describe the condition of the buildings.

Rustic: This is usually an old house retaining its original features and fabric but quite satisfactory for summer letting.

Refurbished: This is a house which has had some repairs done, usually general alterations and minor renovation and redecoration of the interior, although no major work or restoration has been carried out.

Renovated or restored: A house that has been totally rebuilt or restored by replacing or renewing all its original features and installing modern bathrooms and kitchen whilst normally retaining the building's original character.

Traditional: A typical house built in the local style of the area constructed to suit local requirements and climate. Modern: A modern style house or villa constructed in approximately the last twenty years to suit international requirements and taste.

Self-Catering Accommodation - Furniture & Equipment:

These terms describe the contents of the buildings.

Basic: Meeting our minimum standards but the furniture, although functional, could be second hand and unco-ordinated. There may be very limited seating with possibly no soft chairs at all. If this causes concern more details are available on request.

Simply furnished: This means the house generally has modern, functional furniture typical of holiday accommodation but lacks the personal touches and extras you would find at home.

Comfortable: These properties could be furnished in a modern or traditional style but have some of the extras that give the appearance of a home rather than holiday accommodation.

Self-Catering Accommodation - Swimming Pools:

If a property has the use of a swimming pool, this is mentioned in the property description together with an indication of the type of pool available. eg: Private - swimming pool for the sole use of the occupiers of the property. Shared - swimming pool for the sole use of people in the community to which the property belongs. Hotel - clients staying in this property have permission to use the swimming pool at a nearby hotel free of charge. Public - although the property does not have a private or shared pool there is a municipal/public swimming pool nearby, in the town or village. Balsa - this is not a swimming pool but a small water reservoir, normally fed by spring water, which can be used for swimming in the summer. Balsas do not have pumps and filtration units but are emptied regularly to irrigate farmland, and their use is subject to water supply. Village pools are usually only open during summer months. Other swimming pools are usually open from Easter to October, depending on the weather. NB: any mention of pool sizes in the property descriptions refer to the maximum width and length.

Maintenance and cleaning of swimming pools is the responsibility of our local agents or owners. Clients are asked to help by keeping surfaces free from insects and leaves. We cannot accept responsibility for clients' safety in connection with swimming pools or for the closure of pools for routine maintenance or repairs. Pools are normally open during summer months but the exact dates vary from property to property and are subject to local climatic conditions.

Self-Catering Accommodation - Cleaning:

All properties are cleaned prior to arrival. Please leave your accommodation in a similar condition to how you found it. If extra cleaning is required after your departure, we reserve the right to levy a charge. Please note our Booking Terms & Conditions on this website regarding this.

Self-Catering Accommodation - Property Descriptions:

Throughout this website the brief description in the opening paragraphs of each property and the description under property "Details" are our opinions, impressions and observations; whereas the descriptions beneath "Facilities" are factual information concerning the accommodation.
