Los Cristianos - Overview:
Los Cristianos is located in the sunny south of Tenerife, conveniently situated just 15km west of Reina Sofia airport. It has developed from a small Canarian fishing village, centred around a harbour, into a into a popular, bustling tourist destination, that is without a doubt one of the most popular resorts on the island.
Los Cristianos is quieter than its neighbour 'Las Americas' and more suitable for famillies and people who don't want a noisey night life. There are plenty of excellent bars and restaurants nearby and several supermarkets on the doorstep that cater for all your needs. The pedstrianised old town has retained much of it's original Canarian charm, with a wide selection of traditional restaurants, as well as many bars and shops. A promenade provides a walkway linking Los Cristianos to Las Americas.
Los Cristianos - Activities:
The artificial beaches are very nice and it has a wonderful harbour that offers fishing trips, pleasure cruises, glass bottom boats, diving excursions and ferries to the neighbouring Canary Island of La Gomera.
Los Cristianos tends to attract the more mature holidaymaker and some areas still retain a little of the original architecture and atmosphere as a quaint fishing village, but mostly this cosmopolitan town is host to a vast array of pubs, clubs, shops, restaurants (English and German) and vibrant nightlife. A visit to the nearby AquaPark Octopus is a must for any family, also Tenerife Zoo and the Eagles Park are both within easy reach.
Los Cristianos, Tenerife - Out & About:
Los Cristianos is conveniently located just 12km from Tenerife South airport and, for those who enjoy a spot of "Canary island Hopping", a ferry leaves Los Cristianos port daily to the neighbouring Canary Island of La Gomera. There is also a regular ferry that takes you to the other islands of El Hierro and La Palma.
Various boat trips leave from Los Cristianos harbour to take you to watch the whales and dolphins at play in their natural Atlantic habitat, along with various fishing trips. For those of you who prefer to stay on dry land, you could take one of the great variety of excursions to see Mount Tiede (not to be missed,) or go site seeing around the island. There are two fantastic local water parks which are a firm favourite with children.
