Villamartin, Costa Blanca - Overview:
The Villamartin Golf development began in 1972 and has evolved into a splendid Mediterranean village of 1500 apartments, townhouses and villas with two excellent 18 hole courses at its heart, including the original Club de Golf Villamartin and the new Las Ramblas de Orihuela. Villamartin is fast becoming one of the most prestigious golf courses in Spain, with all the amenities you would expect from a development of this standard, yet the properties are very affordable.
Added to which the climate is wonderful, the beaches are uncrowded and there are a number of lively towns within close proximity. There is also a central square with a bank, supermarket, shops, cafes and restaurants.
Villamartin, Costa Blanca - Beaches:
Close to Villamartin are numerous beaches with magnificent views over the sparkling blue Mediterranean and the "white sand" that is typical of the Costa Blanca. The beaches along the coastline close to Villamartin are Playa Flamenca, La Zenia, Cabo Roig, and Campoamor. All of these beaches and all the other major beaches along this part of the Mediterranean coastline are regularly awarded the European Blue Flag which is your guarantee of high standards and facilities for the whole family.
The beaches along the coastline that are closest to Villamartin are La Zenia, Cabo Roig, Campoamor and Playa Flamenca. All the beaches in this area are regularly awarded the EEC Blue Flag Award for their fist class facilities, safety and clean sand and water. In the summer months Villamartin benefits from a courtesy bus to these beaches.
La Zenia beach is approximately 5 minutes drive away. It is an extremely popular sandy bay beach with many water sports on offer. La Zenia has a clifftop restaurant and many beach bars to enjoy. Campoamor beach is a very long golden beach with perfect clear blue sea.
Any type of food and drink can be bought on these beaches with their numerous bars and restaurants. If you feel slightly energetic and want a break from sunbathing, beach volleyball, swimming in the sea or reading your book on a sun lounger (that are available to hire), there is a really pretty walk along the coast on a purpose built path from Playa Flamenca going through La Zenia and on to Cabo Roig.

The Costa Blanca is now one of the most cosmopolitan areas in Europe with a coastline untouched by blatant tourism. Inland, hillsides covered with terraced vineyards and lush-green citrus orchards - testament to the agricultural traditions of the area - are dotted with pretty towns full of narrow streets leading down to flower-filled squares.
At the centre of the White Coast is cosmopolitan Alicante, with its magnificent palm-fringed waterfront promenade, the Esplanada de Espana, and first-class shops and restaurants. Lying between Alicante and Murcia, on the banks of the River Segura, is the historic town of Orihuela ("townhall"), famous for its market gardens and splendid baroque cathedral. Within 20 kms of Orihuela is a stretch of coastline studded with small bays, and home to three championship courses - Campoamor, Las Ramblas and Villamartin.
Driving approximately 10 minutes north of Villamartin will bring you to the heart of Torrevieja, a popular resort with the Spanish. It is a bustling town situated on the coast with its own beaches, a lovely marina, nightclubs, restaurants and shops. There is also a water park in Torrevieja.
For lovers of environmental and ecological tourism you should visit the lakes of Torrevieja and La Mata to wallow in a mud bath, which is highly recommended by doctors across the globe for its properties for a large number of dermatological, heart, rheumatic and respiratory complaints.
